Very happy with my V10 and I don't see myself getting rid of it any time soon. It's a good design and easy to work on. I had a Dakota with the 360 and that was a nice combo. I think the only bad choice for the ram is the V6. I'm not really sure what they were thinking when they approved that combination for sale.
I'm a fan of the 360 for daily driver use, and the oil burner for heavy hauling. The V-6 was a big mistake, and as you said the V-10 never got the aftermarket support that could have made it truly great. The 5.2l is a nice engine for a lighter vehicle, but as a truck engine it's a bit of a stinker. The same effort that makes a 318 merely suck less will give a 360 legs to run on.
The 5.2L I rebuilt for my 1997 was a great engine for an extended cab truck. A lot of people read up on my many towing and scrap metal hauling exploits.
V10 or 360. If there was more aftermarket support for the V10 or if money simply wasn't a problem it would be V10 hands down. I love my 360 V8 and it's a ton of fun but 488ci and 2 more cylinders is just f*ckin cool. I wanna boost one.

Well my brother and I sold our v10 today. Guy is supposed to pick it up saturday. I'm going to miss that truck, it was so much fun to drive but I don't have a use for it. Some day I will get another one, like after I graduate college and pay off some student debt here. My uncle misses his 97 v10 he had, so many stories he has from that truck about hunting and stuff. I think the v10 could be one of the most underrated motors of the last couple decades.
