Default Slinger seal

I had just bought an 01 1500, the wheel bearings had went out of it and the previous owner had put in a new wheel hub. After replacing it he drove it about a 100 yards down his driveway and the bearings fell out. I had then bought yet another wheel hub for and made it about a mile down the road and the wheel hub separated and the bearings fell out. The only thing I see missing is the slinger seal. Are there any techs out there or other dodge owners that may know the answer to this issue . Thankso in advance.

Not torquing the axle nut down tight enough. On the 4x4, those guys get torqued to somewhere around 185-225 ft/lbs. Spec is in the service manual. (you can download one from here.)

Welcome to DF!

That's true in a 4X4 but he has a 2WD. It would make sense to post the truck info!

Here is a ? On the front wheel hubs 4x4 of course and the front axle. They say at the parts store 2000 & 2001 are the same. 94 to 99 are the same. I'm looking right in front of me one of each wheel hub assembly and axle off of an 01 1500 4x4 & wheel hub assembly and axle out of a 99 1500 4x4 axles match to spline count, length ..everything only difference on the wheel hub is the circumference of the the stud plate. Both are 5x5.5 stud holes... Anybody know why they say they won't work or interchange? Only think I could imagine would be a space in the rotor due to the circumference of the stud plate.

I think in 2000, they went to the dual piston calipers, and possibly larger rotors? (or, at least, more swept area???) Get the correct hub/bearing for the year, and torque the axle not properly, and it shouldn't be a problem.

Default Humming sound when pressure applied to stearing

On my 01 dodge ram 1500... 4x4, Both wheel hubs have been replaced as well as the drivers side axle shaft. So now driving down the road straight or going around a right turn everything is quiet and smooth. If I apply the slightest pressure to steer to the left from a straight driving position I hear a humming sound. Any ideas out there of what may be causing this?

What brand hubs? Probably looking at something on the RIGHT side of the truck. (right side gets weight loading when you turn left.)
