"Budget Beater" cummins build thread
Picked up a new project truck a couple weeks ago and wanted to start a build thread. This will be an ongoing build and probably very picture heavy.
First of all I know it's a cummins build and I didn't post it in that section but mostly everything will be 2nd gen specific not cummins specific so I figured I'd get more opinions here.
So to start out it's a 1995 ram 2500 regular cab long bed 2wd 12v cummins.
Truck is a one owner was a work truck and spent it's whole life in CT.
It has 201k miles on it, previous owner said he probably put 170-180k on himself.
Truck came with the original title from 94 and the window sticker with a sticker price of $26,472.
My plan with the truck is to build it somewhere in the 400-500 hp range as cheap as possible. :stirpot:
Some places will recieve a good amount of money (trans, and engine parts) but everything else, as cheap as possible. I've been parting out 2nd gens for a while so if I have the parts around I'll use them. Yay free parts!
Here's a couple pics from the ad and the day after I got home with it.
I have a rotted long bed laying around in my yard so first thing was to pull the utility body and post it up for sale. Get some money back from buying the truck.
Have a couple people interested in the body.
Next up was to pressure wash the back half of the frame.
But in doing that I found a couple issues that were hiding under all the dirt and rust
Both sides are like this, so Ill take the mounts off that other frame, which is very clean) that you can see in the other pic.

While doing this stuff I also picked up a set of gauges. Mostly used.
Got autometer boost, egt, and trans temp used from one guy.
Then got an isspro egt probe and gauge pod.
Then just ordered the boost tube and trans temp sender new.
Everything totaling $114. Which I think is pretty good for a whole set considering if I went to autometers website and ordered the gauges and pod I would be a little over $400

Well I guess this thread can get forgotten, my build was short lived.....
Scrolling through facebook Friday night I saw someone in one of the diesel groups looking for a cheaper 2wd reg cab diesel and I contacted him and we aggreed on a price. I through the rotted bed I had laying around on the frame and he came Saturday night and bought the truck.
I guess I'll keep looking for a project truck. But hey.... a profit is a profit
