Smallest lift possible to squeeze 35x12.5r20
I just recently had a blow out and decided to upgrade after I found a steal on a set of Toyo MT 35x12.5R20's. They're currently on a set of Fuel Hostage 20x10 -24 offset and as expected they rub pretty bad along the cab side of the fender so I will need to lift the truck but I also love the look of the tire sitting in the wheel well...makes it looks beefier to me so I'd like to keep the lift as low as possible. Do you guys think a simple 2" leveling kit with longer control arms would do? I honestly don't even need full clearance just 75-80% as I'm planning on dropping back down to 33's after this set wears out. I just couldn't pass up on a set of 4 for $300 with 80% tread. So far the truck has nothing in terms of lift other than the bigger 2500 springs.
Longer arms is what you need. A long time ago on here someone had 37s on stock truck. I don't remember how much rub he had and it looked hilarious but he did it. I ran 33s on stock truck and had zero rub. Since you already have 1-2" lift with the 2500 coils, you may be able to get away with just longer arms. Lifting the frame even more with a leveling kit (axle drops down and back more) will cause you to need even longer arms to re-center the axle front to back. Another way is to simply cut the fender out at the cab/fender corner. That's the cheapest.
Thanks, I just looked at it and I believe you're right. By cutting approximately 1" off the lower rocker panel I believe I could get it to about 80% full turn and correct me if I'm wrong but with longer arms I theoretically should be able to clear completely correct? Im putting a 4th gen bumper on soon so I would make sure i have front clearance as well before I put longer arms on. Rather trim more rocker panel than the new bumper.

I'll definitely keep it in mind, but I'm not planning on running it off road too much until I do beef up the motor which will probably follow up with a lift and 37" tires lol. I did cut it and have to say it turned out very nice. If i had to guess I'd say I'm around 85% full tilt but the body is no longer the issue. The plastic guard is now catching but i think i can make do with it for now and if it does wear through the plastic I'll just cut it to where I can guarantee 100% clearance. Again, this is all with just the 2500 coils. Once the new bumper comes in Ill test fit and if I have 1.5"+ of clearance i'll drop in longer control arms and see if that eliminates any need to trim plastic.
Thanks, I never thought of doing that but i'll definitely try it out! So far it's made a significant improvement with my turn radius so I'm happy with the results given how quick and easy it was.
