Front sway bar opinion
I have a 98 ram 1500 and I was curious what some thoughts are on removing my front sway bar completely? My natural instinct says not to remove it but I have been told by allot of people that it doesn't hardly effect anything, but I'm fixing to have a child and I don't want to make the truck dangerous to drive. If I could get some opinions that would be awesome!! Thanks!

Removing any factory installed suspension component could potential be dangerous. Over in the Dakota section, people have removed them for better articulation in off road situations. Remove it now before your kid comes along and drive it and see what difference it makes. Probably more body roll in turns, but without knowing specifics of your vehicle (lift, tire size, etc), it's kinda hard to guess what impact removing the sway bar will have.

Most kits will actually come with drop-down brackets for the sway bar. Personally, I don't really care for that solution...... There was another member that just flipped the links, so the sway bar was above the mounts on the axle, and the links went down to the mounts. Tucked the sway bar up nicely, and didn't require lowering it. There were pics as well. I *think* that was within the last year or so, might try searching it out, and see if it is a viable solution for you.

I removed mine without any issues and have been driving it like that for years. But if you need more flex off road but want a sway bar for on road look at Anti Roll Bar from Currie. All my trucks have them removed. 01 Ram with 35s, 96 with 37s and an 08 with 40s
