Needed camera for using boat trailer but had hard time finding place to mount the monitor inside cab, ended up making bracket fron piece of tin to fit over that whatever compartment next to lighter. Monitor mounted to bracket but bracket fits over lip of compartment door and can be lifted off to be stored out of sight.....works for me and maybe could help someone else having this problem. Just bought this truck so having some fun playing and figuring things out on it, now if I could just get some sound to come out of speakers. Oh, one more thing, I painted bracket with black hammered finish paint and it matches rest of dash.
Well, three days post has been here and not one reply, thought I had a helpful idea here someone could use.....so how do you deleat a useless post? This is embarrassing.
it's not useless, otherwise, it would have been deleted already. It's actually a good idea, (one which I will likely use, as my wife really isn't a 'help' when it comes to guiding me back to the trailer........) so, I am just gonna leave it here.
I like it! I am just like you, with the fact, I like to add stuff but still be able to go back to factory. I don't drill holes in the dash as if you ever want to go back you can't without a hole in the dash. I just upgraded to a double din radio but before that I had the monitor mounted in the A pillar. I would have never thought of that as I use that Ash tray as a little cubby. I love your thinking!
Except for back-up camera there is no kit. Bracket was cut from a piece of Home Depot flashing, bolt was cut down from 1" to about 1/4" to mount monitor onto bracket.
