Default Looking to add courtesy lights. Need help.

I'm adding courtesy lights to the bottom of my doors on my 1999 ram. What wire would I tap into, to get them to turn on when i open the door? Iv tried all of them in the door jamb. But, it only comes on when the dome lights turn off. Thanks fellas for any help. If I posted in the wrong area please let me know. Haven't been on in a lil while. Things are a lil different lol

I don't think anything coming into the doors will work, unless you want them on all the time. Best bet would be to tap the dome lamp circuit. If you can read wiring diagrams, grab the factory service manual for your truck from here.

I'm not excellent at reading schematics. Please correct me if I'm wrong bud. But, from these I gathered I'd need the pink wire that the domes all run on.the door jamb switches all seem to be ground

Yep. Looks like. Then run the ground wires to the door switch, that way, they will be on or off with the dome lights.
