Well, it's been a bit here, and I have another project on my truck I'm mid way through that I want to share, but I wanted to show the computer rendered results of the CAD work I did. Would it help to have modeled and rendered the grille and headlights for additional context? Sure. But then I might as well do the whole truck, lol. I did model and render the bumper cap, fog lamp inserts, air dam (with hardware!) and license plate and bracket for context.
I ended up rendering out three designs. The first is my initial vision, discussed above at length. The second has some 4th gen HD bumper design inspiration while still using the stock shape and style line (same bumper cutout "sandbox"). The third design borrows many 4th gen HD bumper design cues, and does so with different style lines, 4th gen-esque fog lamp cutouts, as well as the primary tow hook/winch/lightbar/radiator cutout. These will be split into a few posts, so please let me know your thoughts.
I think there could be some tweaking of the style line and fog lamp cutout placement to make them line up a bit better in real life, but they're pretty well placed right now.
I also like #1 the best, keeps it more original, as much as i do like the look of the 4th gen trucks I personally dont like the mix and match of the bumpers.
