Default installing my lift kit... finally

well its been about 2 years since i bought my lift and gears. i got the gears in right away but haven't done anything with the lift but move it from place to place and b!tch about it being in the way. well i finally ordered my tires they will be showing up on wednesday or so. i ordered the dick cepek fc-II's, 35x12.50 15. so i figure this weekend im FINALLY going to install my lift lol. its a 5.5" from rough country new coils and the works up front and a simple block lift out back <(not ideal but leafs are expensive.) i also have a set of add-a leafs imma throw in (leafs are sagging). is there anything that i should be wary of while doing this, any tricks to make it easier. i will have a buddy helpin me. and yes i do have a new set of brake lines so my stockers dont serve as a limiting strap.

btw when this set of tires is up im probably going to move up to a 16" rim. 35's in a 15 are becoming few and far in between. whats sad is i work for a tire distribution center and all we can currently order in is mickey mtz's. not a bad tire but even at my price they're spendy.

If you could at all, try to go to the 16s now.... You'll really wish you did.

Hit PB blaster or similar on all bolts and stuff now. Let it soak for some time. Maybe even just clean, pressure wash things beforehand.

Take pictures so you can recall where things were.

Btw, loved my FC-IIs when I had them. Great friggin tire and lasts longer than most others. Let us know how it goes.

man i would but i just put these 15's on six months ago and im pretty partial to my 15's lol didnt pay alot of money but i was pretty broke when i bought em. purchased them one by one by one by one lol through 4wheelparts. but eventually i will have to. i wanna upgrade my calipers to 2500 equip but i was told they dont fit with 15's so im just waiting for now.

oh and seems how ill be doing the block lift and an add-a leaf i was wondering if i should keep the 2" coil spacer up front to possibly avoid stink buggin lol.

No argument there with the wheels. You do what you gotta do. I can't speak to the 2500 caliper upgrade, but there are some good threads here about it, including part numbers, iirc.

I'd drop the spacers. Most lift kits don't recommend having spacers either.

You will want the lift springs. When I installed my lift on my 99 I found that both of the stock springs had cracks in them. Had to get JY springs just I could finish the job. The ride was so bad it would bet you to death. A few mouths later I took it to get inspected and found out that both od the JY springs had cracks in them. I finely ordered a set of real lift springs and what a differernce in the ride it made in my truck. I'm so happy with it now.
As for the tires. I do have 16's on my truck, but I don't see the real world difference in haveing 16 to 15's on our trucks. It also seems as if the 16's inch cost more and get higher as the rim size goes up. Just my 2 cents
