Default tires for my new gears

well i was talking to the guy who was going to install my 4.10 gears (and auburnposi)right. i told him i was going from my stock 15 to 17" rims off the new stock dodges. well he said if i got any taller tires it would defeat the purpose of getting new gears.. so i was like okay. what kinda tires do i need to be looking for? i prefer wide ones on the back so i can catch traction but no "to tall?" whats a good tire...

most of us on here regear BECAUSE of our taller tires....so i really dont know what hes tryin to say, unless you were wanting gears to just some low end torque

What he is saying, is that the gears you were going to install would end up being the same as what you have now, once the taller tires are installed. Basically evening them out. Go with a steeper gear, to match the taller tires.
Get some 4.11's or 4.56's just depends on what you want to do.

I went from a 15X10 wheel with some 37" IROK's to a 17X9 with 35 Dunlop Mud Rovers. The previous owner that was running the 37's had 4.56's installed and even with the wheel and tire size changes I'm just above 2000 rpm's at 70 mph. I was thinking about going to 4.11's but so many people said that was a dumb move I just stuck with them and I don't have any problems.
