FYI, most guys on this site are into performance enhancements first,appearance without functionalitysecond. That's probably why you did not receive the responses you thought you should get. Stainless Steel Rocker Panels, while they might look really nice with the black paint job you're thinking of, would not be a good choice for anybody that uses their truck asa 4X4 is often used - in the mud. Too many edges that would allow water to seep behind the panel and create rust. The spray on rockers while they don't have the bright chrome look, are much more functional as they protect the rocker panel completely while proventing rust from occurring behind the panel.
An option you might consider is finding a spray on bedliner dealer that offers the spray in different colors. You won't find chrome, but I'm sure that you would find a compatible color forthe black paint job. This would provide both looks and functionality.
