Default Newbie with 1st ?

Well, howdy everyone. I'm the new guy, be gentle!

Just got an '01 Quad Cab, Sport, Off Road, 5.9 with only 50k miles. It's really clean, and I'm excited.

Quick question.........truck running in Park at idle, I've got a clicking noise, sounds like a relay cycling back and forth quickly, behind the instrument cluster. When I put it in gear, it stops. Any ideas as to which relay it might be?

Are you sure it isn't an injector?

I don't think it is, but I'll check it closer and report back.................would an injector make a noise like that?

Sorry for the mystery noise post, I know they are difficult, but I thought someone would have experienced this before.

If it turns out it is not a relay, i'd say maybe an injector, lifter, exhaust leak, or bad PCV. I got this PCV once that rattled so loud, I though I had a mouse in my glove box. Swapped it out for a Mopar one from the dealership (instead of one from a parts store), and it took care of it.

Not to Aspen much, I mostly ski in Breckenridge or Winter Park. I've heard there are some good snowmobile trails up there though, so it might have to load up the sled and come up to check it out some time.

It's probab;y the purge solenoid on the fender.I've run across quite a few that are noisy...try unplugging it to see if noise goes away.(will cause check engine light)
