Default Removing convertor??

Ok guys new here. Long time GM guy and have jumped ship. What is involved in removing cat convertor on a 01 5.2 Ram? do you have run a sim? I am assuming so since its OBDII. Also if so is there a god place to get them reasonable?

from what I've seen you can cut them out. If it is a california emisions truck that means you have 4 o2 sensors. 2 in front of each cat and 2 behaind. In order to not throw any mil you will have to run sims on the 2 after the cat. If it isn't a califinia emisions truck then you only have 2. 1 in front and 1 behind. The only place that I have seen sim them is from the fastman.

Sorry about the spelling its past my bed time

Sometimes you need a sim ... sometimes you don't. Do what you're gonna do and then ... if you start throwing codes ... install a post-cat sim (or two if needed).

yes, removing the cat will throw a code, but will not cause running issues. you have to retain your 1st O2 sensor for the motor to run correctly. the 2nd O2 sensor just monitors the efficiency of the cat...since you dont have a cat, it will trip a code and light the check engine light. you can remove the second O2 sensor.
