On mine, each plug has a retaining clip on the top and the bottom. You have to lift those up/down, then slide the plug out.

Nevermind, got that plug off, something on the bottom of it. Now for this Jet chip, where is this clip I should have to move? I dont feel/see anything except for something underneath it which I don't know what that is but I'm going to find a mirror.

My guess is that it's easier to work on that thing with it removed from the vehicle. Just pop the other two plugs and pull the three screws. Then you can really study it close up.

Ya, seeing those pictures and how that jet chip plugs in, I think it would be easier on a work bench, unless it just unplugs.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing after I tried messing around with it.

I pulled one off mine once, you need a mirror and a small bent pick.On the bottom they made the chip with a bar over the tab, need to pry that down...it may be easier on a bench.

Oh yeah, I knew there was some kind of tab down there but I couldn't make it out even with a mirror. Guess I'll just take it out now that I know what to do, hopefully tomorrow.

Alright well I took the PCM off and removed the Jet chip today and went for a test drive. Didn't notice any difference and the pinging is still there. I didn't hear anything at first but then it came back.[&:]

has your plenum gasket been replaced yet ?
do you see any oil down in the pan ?

my 01 was not pinging with stock programming, but when i added the hypertech it started pinging. premium gas eliminated the ping. i had some oil in the plenum pan, but had not noticed a lot of oil loss like some report. when my water pump went out, i went ahead and replaced timing chain and did the plenum fix. since then i've gone back to regular gas, with hypertech still in and no pinging. so i really don't know if the solution was timing chain or plenum gasket.

yours could be like mine, or could be carbon buildup on the pistons - cc cleaner or seafoam
