Default Ram going bye bye.........

Well I am getting rid of the Sport, its not going to far, I am giving to my 18 y/o son, a birthday/graduation present.

My mother had a 2005 Chevy Cavalier R/S with 16,000 miles on it. She owed $3400.00 and the value of the car is around $12000.00, so I bought it, kind of a no brainer. With gas prices the way they are, and my mileage on the Ram, was getting close to ridiculous, and I was averaging about 15.00 per EMS/FIRE run in gas, and we have been extremely busy.

I know its a big step down, and of course I will be getting another Dodge, but it will be a diesel, and I will get more trading the Cavalier in then I would the Ram, plus I always have the option of grounding my son and driving his truck.

My last weekend off, 7 calls over 36 hrs. We can't go 2 days without something.

I have no problem giving my son the Sport, he's a good kid, hopefully he respects it. He is kind of upset that I am moving strobes/leds and siren to the Cavalier but he needs to earn those..........

Keep'n it in the family. Good deal. An 18 year old buck should give that old truck new life.....mods to your mods. Are you going to tell him about the forum.
I bet it'll feel weird the first time you pull up to a car accident with a cavalier as opposed to a tall Dodge truck. I bet it won't feel so "official like".

If its an accident, the pumper goes, or the grass truck, I just drive my vehicle down the the street, I mostly respond direct to EMS injury/illness calls. But the good thing ,it is red, like my truck . I think the lights will look awesome in it.

When I was a Jr in highschool, my dad was looking for a ranch truck. At the time I was driving a 66 chevy P/U. My dad being the Dodge man that he was found a 76 Dodge P/U that he said he'd buy for me if I gave him the 66 to use at the ranch. The truck was nice looking but what really got my attention was the 440 4bbl that was in it. Now my dad was always a Dodge guy, but he did not care about big engines and going fast. At the time he was driving a RamCharger with a 360. Although this was the only time I lied to my dad, I told him it had a 360 in it. He didn't really know about cars, just always thought Dodges were the best built. I had a blast with this truck. If it would have had some higher gears I know it would have been a hotrod. Had that truck up to 130 one evening and scared the hell out of myself. Was a great truck also, 15mpg city, highway, loaded, unloaded, didn't matter. Had factory saddle tank so could hold 50 gals of gas. But, all good things must come to an end. Summer before college, my dad sold the truck out from under me because he didn't want me coming home every weekend. He was smarter than I gave him credit for because when he did let me have a car, not only did I come home every weekend, I usually stayed a couple extra days too! Ended up dropping out my 2nd semester. Oh well, I miss that truck and always wished he would have kept it. It would have been very cool to have that 440 in my 83 RamCharger or even in my 99 Ram. I've been a Dodge truck man ever since. Have had 6 other Dodge trucks since then, but none of them were as fun as that single cab long bed 440 4bbl. Man I miss that truck!
