ford forum wouldnt so please help
well...the truck idles right around 800 maybe...and like i said, it only does it at low rpm, with it being a stick, i go to take off i hit the gas and it doesnt do it, but if i turn the wheel before i hit the gas the truck shakes until i hit the gas and bring the rpms...but no, i dont notice the rpms dropping, if it did the truck would stall i believe
With my ram my rpm's drop slightly if im at idle, but it doesnt shake or anythingand with my moms alero her rpm's will drop 100-200 and the car kinda shakes and is hard to turn the wheel.....Has it always done this?
I would have to agree with TMS Bill that it is in your power steering pump. What it sounds like to me is at low rpm when you're turning the wheel, there is more pressure in the steering box than the power steering pump. This causes the pump to actually act like a break on the engine, using the power steering belt to slow the engine down. When you are at higher RPM's the pump has more pump pressure than the steering box generates so you do not encounter the problem.
Check your power steering belt to see if it's shiny from doing any slipping when this issue occurs. It really sounds like a weak pump to me.
