How do i tell if my truck has a mopar pcm already
Iv been talkin to a few people, and mostly everyone comes to the same oppinion over my bad mpg, a mopar performance pcm. Iv been running 87 without hearing pinging or anything since i bought it almost 6 mo ago or so. is there anything stamped on the pcm that would tell me, or any other way i can tell? Im also going to get one if i dont have one, and id like to make sure i dont have one first off. another reason i think that is that my truck ran a 16.004 @ 84 basicly stock with 170k on it, whereas i see on rm_indy's site, heran a 16.4 stock way back in the day when his was new. thanks for the help
Click here: http://www.v8performance.com/MoparPCM.xls and check the P/N of the PCM installed in your truck. See if it matches up.

If your shift points are set to 5k, 5.4k or whatever, you're not going to shift there unless you have the line pressure built up. When you ran your 16 where did it shift? You are not going to hit your highest shift point unless you have the throttle mashed to the floor all the way. You can adjust your tv cable so you don't have to mash so hard, but I agree with Bigschwerm, just get on an open stretch of road and put the hammer down all of the way and see where she shifts. That will tell you. If you have the stock kegger on there 4k on up will feel and sound like an eternity.

shift point 1-2 is 5k
shift point 2-3 is about 4800
and 3-4 is never when im wot, it hits the rev before shifting into o/d
What are ways i can build line pressure faster. Im guessing i have 176k on my trans. Aside from a new trans with a valve body swap, what else? new oil pump?
(btw, it always shifts at wot, but i just have to let off after i shift into second/third, untill i hit about 4k+ when i go wot again, otherwise it downshifts and hits the rev.
i checked the reference guide provided earlier in the thread, and the number that matches my truck is not on the pcm. so, i guess i dont have one. Buuuut....as for getting one, is there one i can get that i can have reflashed in the future? Im guessing the mopar pcm just has the few standard settings, low, mid, and high octane?

The Mopar Performance PCM is not adjustable. It's a replacement computer for your truck with high performance settings programmed into it.
