1995 PCM
I have a 1995 Ram 1500 4x2 318 auto. Is it possible to flash the PCM in this year model? Someone else told me that the 94&95 year models were different from the other (1996+)2nd gen. Rams and that the PCM is not rewritable.
i know 94's are a no go...95 is probably a no go either, do you know if your vehicle is OBD II or OBD I??? i'm pretty sure it's obd I...and since it is it has a non flashable prom...i don't knwo much about the mopar pcms, but the only way you can program your pcm is by putting a new chip into it or getting a mopar pcm if they make them for your year....i think jet chips might work as well..but you can't reprogram it with a hypertech or a superchips..they might make chips for your application but no programmers
well now i have a question , Sense my truck is a 96 with a ODB II why cant i find a hypertech for it? would a 97 work then? or is it by year ? only thing you can find is the PTM.. kinda like the jet chip...
I don't beleive a hypertech for a '97 will work for '96.I'm pretty sure theyprogram them with the VIN's for the year they're made so they won't work on any other year than the year they were made for.
The OBD-I computer can be flashed by someone with the right equipment.
The OBD-I computer software for the Rams does have the ability to have the ignition timing adjusted anywhere from 1-6 degrees of retard (no advance)
Unlike the 'death flash' on the 1996+ OBD-II computers
this ignition retard adjustment feature can be done over and over...it is not 'final' like the 1996+ years

Padodgeram, they have one for the '96, too. These are "California legal", so I don't how much they'll help.
Also, Mopar PCM's sometimes come up on Ebay, or forum/classifieds. That's how I got one for my '96. Just an idea.
