97 ram weird stuff.
Hi all. Got an issue i can't solve. I'll be as specific as I can.
1997 Ram w/ 360ci
Just did a crank job and replaced oil pump(just because)
replaced water pump
replaced thermostat twice
replaced hoses and belt
Fan clutch is good
flushed the cooling system(super flush)was working perfect before crank job.
engine usually runs 200-210. now it will go to 230-240. it will not overheat.
intake side of radiator gets hot but the outlet side is still cold even after 15 mile drive.
it doesn't seem to be circulating coolant with any power. this happen with the old pump to which is why I replaced it.
the heater hoses get hot and the heater works fine.
I am clueless. Air in the system? never had this with this kind of system, I thought they were self purging. help me before I get the shotgun out!
the pump, tstat, belt, hoses, sending units, fan, are all new at least once. these have been eliminated. Besides had it been one of those things I wouldn't be here. Still thinkin'; 'bout the shotgun.

[align=left]when you did the flush you may have forced the thermostate shut which would stop the flow of fluid, this is sort of common and they are easy to replace its just 3 bolt holding the cover on and the thermostate will come right out and then you just put the new one on.

ok, i've got an idea. i'm thinking that a piece of gasket broke loose and is stuck behind the thermostat, and blocking water flow. try this. temporarily remove the thermostat completely. leave the upper rad hose disconnected at rad (if i'm right you don't want the gasket to get into the rad. remove the rad cap and stick the water hose into it and turn the water on. crank the truck and let it run. with no thermostat, the water pump should suck water out of the bottom of the rad, and push it through the motor, and out the top of the manifold. see if anything come outs. if/when you have good water circulation, re-connect top rad hose and see if it continues to work right. if all well, reinstall thermostat.
