1998 1500 with weak brakes
My truck has not been braking well for some time now so I replaced the front rotors, pads and calipers, as well as bled the lines, but still no joy. It just does not stop well at all. It is not soft/spongey, but I when I push hard on the pedal it is firm, but does not grab. (I am getting to the point that it is scary - better with a trailer to help brake!) Rear brakes appear fine, but I will redo them next paycheck....hehe.
SO, next step? Brake booster or master cylinder? I am thinking booster...... Thoughts?

make sure rear brakes are adjusted up tight. proportioning valve does some funny things with front/rear pressures. leave tires on and adjust up too tight, where it won't spin, then back off until it will spin with hand pressure. when you do the rears, consider the 1 ton GM wheel cylinder mod. the cost is the same as the stock cylinder. if that doesn't help, then its time to dig deeper, like you said.
yah im having the same troubles i think ill do master cylinder for the hell of it cause theres a wrecker with one for 40 bucks. but that one ton brake mod sounds fun, whats that all include and whats it cost.
