OK, I think you info has ne on the right track but, I need to be sure as I do not want the smoke to escape from my wires. I have a 2001 Ram 1500 SLT with the Infinty system. I bought the standard adapting harnes and got here all plugged in and hooked up just fine but, there is no sound. I looked in my factory shop manual and it looks like there is a amp relay/nose filter thingy in rear of the ash tray. Looking at the scemadic it appears to close the contacts when powered to supply power to the amps (right). On the real of my Infininty AM/FM/CD/Cass was an extra two wire plug. It is a white conector with a blue/white stripe & white/black strip. I suspect these are the amp control relays wires.

Can this relay be fooled to think the aftermarket unit is the stock Infinity unit and keep life simple???????
