Shocks for '98 2500 Cummins
My truck is due for shocks and I was wondering what you guys would recommend for a replacement. It's used as a daily driver but once or twice a month I might pull up to 12,000 lbs up to 500 miles one way. I'm looking for a shock with a decent ride (I know, it's a 2500) yet one that will be a good performer when loaded. There is a place where I can get a set of 4 Bilsteins for about $61 each, but are they really worth the extra money, especiallyin my situation? What about the RanchoRSX's, are they as good? They're available for $5 cheaper per shock.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the welcome. Guess my question is, do the Bilsteins really offer much if you're not offroading with the truck, or are they a big improvement for all driving styles?
I have a buddy who had two trucks:
1990 Chevrolet K1500 Sport (Z71 Pkg) w/Bilsteins @ 145,000 miles
1996 Chevrolet K1500 4x4 w/o Bilsteins @ 120,000 miles
He decided to lift the 1990 and took the Bilsteins off as they were not long enough. They still worked perfectly! All 4 had excellent dampening. At that point, the 1996 shocks had failed and he replaced the failed original shocks with the Bilsteins from the 1990 that had 145,000 on them. 1 year later, the they're still doing great and probably will for a long time. I personally believe that they are worth it. Mind you that these were half ton trucks unlike your 3/4 ton, but both trucks did have 7 1/2' poly meyer plows. So both shocks were worked quite similarly. I would take from this that the Bilstein brand shock lasted longer (both years and miles) under similar conditions than a standard shock.
BTW, where can you get Bilsteins for $61.00/ea. I am planning on doing shocks on my 2000 Dodge Ram 4x4 this summer and that sounds like a good deal. Good luck!

You can get them in set of 4 at http://www.topguncustomz.com/for $225 plus $19 shipping. If you buy from theireBay store, however, I think you can get themfor $215 plus $19 shipping which works out to $58.50 each. Not a bad deal if you ask me.
Just go to Ebay, and search Ram Shocks........you will see several Bilstein options for different Ram model years. Most if not all of them are from Top Gunz Ebay store. That link is direct to TG, not their Ebay account.
