Default Need help with Heater/AC blend door,servo motor

Need help with Heater/AC blend door,servo motor.
History: Replaced defective Evaporator and when I put evertything back together could not get any hot air out of the ducts. Both heater hoses were hot and with glove box removed the heater core area was hot as well. Problem appears to be with the blend air door or servo motor. After removing the heaterhousing I pulled off the servo motor under the blenddoor and it was indeed stuck. Appaentlywhen I put the case on it boundup the door. Here are my questions, concerns before Iput all this back together, and if anyone has ever removed a heator housing they can share my pain .
I now have the case together and the door is moving freely. When I attempt to put themotorback on it appears toexert a lotof tension against the door. So.;
A.Can anyone give a procedure for installing the servo motor back on to the door ?
B: Explainhow the motor works (theory) in conjunction to the ac/control switch. IE:timing, pressure etc.
C: It appears that the positioning of the motor can be adjusted by removing the cover from the motor, and spinning the gears(motorremoved) to varoious positions relevent to doors plastic hub that connects to the motor. This is where I am really struggling!
D: Could the motor have been damaged due to it being bound up.? Not sure whetherto just get a new motor as they are $126.00.
E: Can the motor be tested. Has 3 leads,an Orange, Blue and Black/Green
Any help is greatly aprreciated !!

The 2001 Ram service manual provides the following on the blend door.

Use this link to download your own copy.

All 2nd Gen's are pretty similar so if yours is a different year this should be pretty close.

Thanks that was great info:! This explains alot . It looks like from the manual I made a mistake by not selecting the 12 oclock positon on the ac control switch before I took everything apart. It looks like the ac control switch puts the motor in a set position. Ok now the bad news, my son eager to help took the motor and moved the actuator to diff positon, (remember I said it was in a bind before).Now I fear the worst, that to fix this I may have to stick it back in the car without the door attached to motor ; run the engine; set it to 12 oclock remove and reinstall per directions OK Just looked at the postion of the AC switch and it was all the way to cold. (explains why case was hard to get apaprt and back together and bound, ) The big question is does the motor self positon itself regardless of the initial position connection to the door? Or does the door to motor have to be in an exact positon at time of install of door to motor. Hope that makes sense Any thoughts or suggestions? Any mechanics or ex mechanics messed around with one of these ? Thanks BTW this is 99 Ram 1500 5.9 Standard Cab.
