caliper guide pins
i got one of my caliper pins off when i found out the other one was stripped on the inside. the allen part of it. this is for the drivers side of the front assembly. in addtion to the fact that i cant figure out how to get it off right now the reason im taking them off is because the previous owner never greased my u-joints so they sort of blew up. i found a piece of it in my lawn. in either case i need to remove my half shaft in the front becuase i have four wheel drive and cant afford the new parts yet. my plan involves just excluding the half shaft so i dont have the four wheel drive. my yoke and half shaft on the drivers side is toast.any ideas on either issue please respond.

RE: caliper guide pins
Just grab the outside of it with vice grips. You can get 2 new caliper slide pins for about $6.00 at any auto parts store. I'd replace the bushings as well.
And leaving the axle shafts "out" is not a good idea. First you will lose differential fluid. The amount of dirt that will eneter through the tubes will be more than enough to eat away bearings and seals. Leaving it open is not a good idea. U joints are cheap, and easy to replace.
Good luck with your ride.
