Default First time posting, need advice on 99 1500

Here's a link to the exact truck I'm considering buying:

http://www.autotrader.com/dealers/dd...r_id=216803403

I took it for a test drive earlier today and it seemed to handle alright. Right now I have a 1998 chevy lumina and while it's not that fast it seemed alot faster then this. I didn't try to hard but I couldn't even get the tires to squeal.

I don't know the exact size of the tires, and neither does the guy at the dealership. I think it was like 310/70R/XX. It was over 300, around 310.

The previous owner also had installed two new mufflers for a dual exhaust setup but we aren't sure what kind of mufflers are on it short of going under and taking a look. They sound like flowmasters though.

What do you guys think of this? They are asking $10k but I can get it down to $9k + 3 month/4500 mile warranty. I'm 18 years old and this is the first vehicle I'll be buying (my car was given to me). Thanks for the help!

I bought my 99 1500 long bed with a 5spd and 117k miles about 2months ago for 4500 after taxes and everything... then again I just dumped 1500 into tires, brakes, and an issue with sqeaking from the rear end today.. go figure. I personally think you can talk the dealer down quite a bit.

Also I should mention that I'm trading my car in towards it. That'll net $1500 towards it, knocking it down to $7500. After sales tax (7% in NJ) it'll be $8000 give or take a few bucks. The tires on this truck are in great condition (80+% tread left) and the brakes seem pretty new as well. It was a one owner truck traded into a dealership, then this dealership bought it from them. The carfax on it is spotless and without issues.

That seems like a lot for a base model regular cab, but if that's what your looking for, then go for it. I think you can do better (Quad Cab, or a higher trim level w/ power windows and such, if you care about that stuff), though, for the money.

so why not, very decent price, even for a 76k mile truck..

and not all trucks can burn rubber at the line, but i gotta say, if you wait too long that truck will be gone.

Hell.. i'd take it.

I don't want quad cab really. All I want is a single cab short bed truck. Power windows etc..would be nice since my current car has them but it's not something I need.

That's a nice truck. How many miles on it? If it has more than 100k I wouldn't do it. If you really want it tell the guy you'll give him $8,500 before trade, give him a piece of paper with your name and number and walk away. Do not look back. He will be watching to see if you do.
As far as getting it to perform, you have to figure on another 4-5 c's for a pcm flash. It's a '99 so it did not get the plenum flash from the factory, but it still might have it. Either way, a pcm flash from B&Gwill get it right. As well, you may want to do a compression test on the motor before you sign anything.

It has 76k miles, I have enough money to make sure whatever I get has less then 80k on it. Sorry for not knowing, but whats a compression test? I probably won't be getting a chip for it either. Maybe a K&N or Mopar air intake but not much more then that.

How's something like this?
