When I am in gear and moving forward I heard a ticking noise from under the truck somewhere. At first I thought it was a lose brake shoe or pad but I checked those last night and they were tight. Any ideas?? Could it be U joints on the drive shaft?
Doubt it the shaft joint, they usually don't make to mucher noise when your moving.
Its probably a wheel bearing going out. Also could be a front axle shaft u-joint going out. But those usually only click in 4wd. My bet is the wheel bearing
My money is on one of the axle u-joints. Just get under there and see if you can wiggle it around, if you can, then it is time to be replaced, which is not hard at all.
Doesn't the front shafts turn all the time even if it is not in 4wd? I have not listened to see if it does it when I turn or not. Guess that would tell me if it is the front shafts or not.
I just replaced my drivers side front u joint for the 2nd time because it had that clicking sound even in 2wd mode. If you make a turn you will notice the sound will go away until you straighten the wheel back out again. It costed me about $200 to have someone replace the u joint on my 99 ram, i probably could have done it myself but it was cold up here in wisconsin and didnt want to mess around with it and freeze me butt off.
I've got a grand caravan 2005 and when I run more than 80 kph I always hear a flapping sound under the hood. Can anybody tell me whats the problem? Thanks
