Im going to be putting in my new posi differential and i was thinking to my self... why not just put in 4:10 gears while im in there. Where is the best/cheapest place to get 4:10 gears..... I have a 98 1500 4x4... with 9.25 rear end. Which differential do i have up front?? Thanks in advance for the help!

I'd assume you have the Dana 44 (D44) front axle like other trucks unless something dramatic was done. Might ask some others around here how to take that front axle apart. I've heard some interesting things about not damaging the seals and things like that...

Yukon Gear, Randy's Ring and Pinion. Just search for 'Ring and Pinion' on google. As far as personal recommendations, wait for some others to chime in.

I'm running Yukon 4.10 on mine, purchased from Randy's. I went with the thick gear so I wouldn't need a new carrier in the front. According to Randy's Ring and Pinion, you can't get a Yukon for the rear though. They said the only gear that is available for the Chysler 9.25 is what they call a Value Gear (made by either Motive or Sierra I think). Here are the part numbers from Randy's that I used for mine in case your interested:

Front - YG D44-411T D44 4.09 THICK
Rear - ZG C9.25-411 9.25" CHY 4.10 R&P

You'll notice that the front is actually a 4.09, and the rear a 4.10. That is normal, and as long as the gears are within 2% of each other, they are fine.

Silver - I just had 4.56 Yukon gears installed in my 9.25 and they fit with no problem with the Auburn LSD. I didn't know about the thick gear for the Dana 44 so I ended up replacing the carrier instead. JT's differentials where I bought my gears had a 4.10 Yukon gearset for the 9.25.

I did my gears about 2 years ago, and at that time Yukon did not have a 4.10 for the 9.25. Good to see they do now. I know they have come out with a few new gears products since I did mine (including the awesome 4.88's).

How you liking the new gears by the way?

Just got the truck back a few hours ago and all I can say is wow! It was well worth the expense to regain some performance & mpg's. I also reccomend the GM wheel cylinders if you havent dont that - definitly improves stopping. I know you wanted to see some pics of my Mag-Hytec differential covers and I will post some up tomorrow.

Can't wait to see them. I really dig your truck, but i'm partial to silver colored Rams. Really looks great with that lift on it, probably were I will end up with mine someday. You need to update your cardomain with pics of your truck doing something other then sitting in your driveway though.

I know.....I was thinking about that when I was reading your 'ditched it' thread. I need to take it into some dirt and mud. I just have been really busy and havent had much free time.
