Default A/C

When I accelerate pretty quickly and the a/c is on it stops flowing out the vents for a bit untill i reach a steady speed. Im not used to newer vechicals with A/C just wondering it this is suposed to happen. Im in a 97 dodge ram.

No worries most new Cars and Trucks have a cut off when you really hit the accelerator the AC will shut off for a second and kick back on when you ease up on the gas.

mine does this too. i was worried that something is wrong with the switc. i believe the switch that controls the airflow is vacuum operated. i thought that when my a/c would go from the dash to the defrost vent, that it was due to a problme with the vac switch because it only does it under power (when the amount of vacuum is changing). i like the thought of there being a cut off that gives you more power though! that is a cool feature and also means that my truck isnt falling apart! anyone out there that can confirm or deny this "cutoff feature".

would this cuttoff switch for the a/c you talked about
be the cause of my a/c being stuck in defrost???
bbgundave thread (stuck in defrost mode).

^Jesus, man!
2004!
Welcome to DF and all but look at the dates.

Your problem with your a/c stuff is most likely wild vents. Which zman17 posted a link to in your thread.

Question tube thru fire wall to controller

With all the info i have gotten for the forum.
I have figured out that.
From the vacuum port on the motor to the canister under the cowling.
Is good.
The part that is missing goes to the control on the dash.
Where does the vacuum line go thur the firewall at to get to the dash control.
I found the tee that had about an inch of crumbled (1/18) tubing in the line from the motor to the canister under the cowling.
But not the other end of the broken vacuum line

Damn, there is a thread here somewhere with a pic of that vac line you are talking about. I can't find it. But , aside from the one to the cowl. The other one enters through the firewall next to the top tube of the AC drier/accumulator.

Very kool, that narrows it down a bit.
Bet I did not see the end of the tube.
It's black on black.
Going to go look now.
Thanks.

FOUND IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! .

Found bits of the old tube where you said it was.
Went under dash and followed the green tube behind the glove box.
"Green and black tube run the same path from controller (dash) toward the glove box"
Followed green tube back toward controller on dash and FOUND the DEAD END.
Should be enough slack to splice.
THANKS A BUNCH.
bbgundave.
