Default spare tire question with 35" tires

I just put a 6" lift and 35" tires on my 2000 Dodge Ram 1500. Anyone know what I could safely use as a spare tire on one of my stock rims? Also any ideas on storing such a big tire. I would like an alternative toreplacingthe gate on my truck bed with a tire carrier. Any help would be great!

Considering that a spare tire is only required to get you to a tire repair/replacement facility ... I suspect that what you have will suffice. I'm running 285's and my spare remains the stock 265. When I go to 295's (or more) ... I doubt I'll change it out then either.

Yeah ... it'll look stupid and you'll have to keep your speed down ... but it's a lot cheaper and you don't have to relocate it.

If you're talking about off-roading ... there are ways to fix a flat in the field ... you may wish to learn one or two.

As long as its the same hight and you dont put it in 4x youll be set. Just remember if its smaller than the other side of the axle it will be like your making a perpetual turn and putting undesired wear on your posi.

... if he has one. That's why you need to keep your speed down. The little "space saver" spare most cars come with is usually smaller than the stock tires it's supposed to replace. It's only for emergencies.

rofl, those donut tires are a joke.

I've been contemplating solutions for my own spare dilemma.

Like option #2 the best ... spare rubber AND gas ... retain all the bed space.

Okay, here's a stupid question. I put 35 inchers on my 2001 Ram, and until reading this thread, completely overlooked the jack issue. With a 6" lift and 35" inch tires, the stock jack is useless. What size jacks are you guys with the big tires and lifts using and where are you storing them for everyday travel? I'm a knucklehead! If I get a flat right now, I'm pretty much screwed! LOL
