Default RE: blower for the 5.2

I have had a Kenne Bell supercharger on my 5.9L for close to two years.

Some things to think about: First you need to decide if want the extra horsepower for off-road or on-road.
If your going off-road you'll probably go with bigger tires and a lift kit...you'll need bottom end torque especially if you stick with the stock gears in the differential. If you go with the centrifigul type blowers such as Paxton you'll have boost lag...while it spools up. That's okay sitting at the starting lights revving up the engine waiting to run the quarter mile...not good when in the mud.
Another thing to consider now days is the price of gas. Most superchargers require high octane gas to prevent detonation. Super-unleaded is pretty pricey these days. I can get away with running regular unleaded as long as I don't go WOT with max boost pressure.
I chose Kenne Bell because installation is not to difficult. You don't have to tap the oil pan for blower lubrication. It is direct drive and makes max. boost, torque, and HP at the bottom end...2000rpm. There is no intercooler to install...this can be viewed as good or bad. It comes with it's own Knock Sensor and computer which interfaces with the Dodge PCM. The KB optimizer retards timing and adds fuel as knock is detected. It comes with its own two fuel injectors on its manifold which are controlled by the KB optimizer. Everything you need is in the kit...no other modifications are required...fits under your stock hood. I really like it...I have smoked/roasted my 14.5" X 36" tires on dry pavement with this blower.
Mistakes I made due to ignorance at the time. I bought a set of 24lb./hr fuel injectors thinking I would need extra fuel for the blower. Complete waste of money...the Kenne Bell injectors on the blower manifold are more than adequate. The new injectors just made my MIL light come on all the time with a Bank 1 too rich code. I purchased a blower cam with a longer overlap to help blow down the cylinders at WOT. The cam killed the bottom end all the way up to 4500 rpm...this sucks when pulling a trailer or climbing a hill off-road. Waste of money and time installing tha cam. It would be great if I just used the truck for street/strip use where you don't need bottom end torque.

It's getting kind of long-winded...post another reply if you would like more info on Kenne Bell. This is the only blower I have ever had so I don't have any knowlege on the others out there.

all of my buddies have vortecs on their 5.0 stangs and another buddy is buying a novi 2000 for his 351 lightning. I won't be off roading in my grand cherokee. i have the mopar performance pcm right now so i am running 93 octane and it's only $1.94 right now. I didn't see anything on kenne bell's website for making a blower for the 5.2 cherokees

The kit I have fits the 318 & 360 Dodge Durango or Dodge Ram. You would have to contact KB to be sure if one of their kits would work for you. What do your friends think of their blowers? Next best thing besides Nitrous is 1.7:1 Roller Rockers from Crower and the Mopar M1 Intake manifold. Hold off on the headers until you decide on the blower. Kenne Bell swears by their Headers and have a custom program for their headers only. At least that's the way it was several years ago.
