Default 99 Ram 1500 SLT - What's It Worth

I'm looking at a 99 Ram 1500 SLT regular cab, 4WD, 5.9 long box. It's in very good condition with two very minor areas of surface rust, one at the leading edge of the box and the other at the trailing edge of the rear wheel well, both on passenger side. 99,215 miles. Carfax says it's a one owner, clean history. Tires are about 60% life left. Interior is in very good condition. It's been on the dealer's lot since December, regular cabs just don't seem to sell well and with gas very close to $3.00/gallon now, I'm wondering what to offer the dealer. Asking price is $6995. Any thoughts on a price and any specific mechanical things to check are appreciated. Here are a couple pics if that helps.

Check out the NADA pricing guide and Kelly Blue Book for ideas.

I've done all that, I was looking for anyone else's experience as to what they were able to negotiate. Let's face it, full size, regular cab, 4WD trucks with big V8's are not bringing book value right now. Anyone make a purchase of a similar truck recently?

I would say negotiate for a little less. I bought my 98 Quad Cab SLT, 4 wheel drive, good condition for 7000. My truck had 123000 miles on it though. The dealer was asking for 9000! You can get the best deals at the end of the month if the dealership is below its quota.

That and how long the vehicle has been sitting on the lot. It costs the dealer for every day that thing hasn't moved. I negotiated my truck down from the $8,500 asking price.

Nice lookin truck. 99 QC 4x4 Ram's in my area are high priced, $8500-12,000. I just got mine last month for 10,900 and the dealer was askin 11,900.My trucks transmission started slipping within 2 weeks of purchase so I would keep an eye out for any tranny issues on a truck with over 80k.

The truck your lookin at looks like a pretty good deal at $6995 given its a strong runner. I would offer $5000 and go from there if you have cash on hand.

$6995 seems like a good deal but you could try and haggle anyway if your good at it.

I bought my 99 ram 4x4 a few weeks ago but mine was very clean with only 71000 miles. Book value on mine was $9600 and dealer was asking $8995. I ended up buying it for $8100. Trucks still seem to be selling high where I live in Louisiana with 10 year old chevy's and fords with 130,000+ miles selling for $10,000 or more.

My 95 with 130k 5.2 runs good over all but, I got it for 4k 2 weeks ago knowing it needed ball joints and tires. I have 5.5k in it now with the 35s. I thought I got a decent deal. I would have paid 6900 for that truck your showing if I'd seenit
