Default exhaust question

I have a 2000 ram,5.2. I had a mopar mechanc tell me that the long factory muffler is very restrictive and when you go with cat back single muffler or glass pack, then y to duals out it will really improve power on hills and somewhat improve gas mileage. I don,t have the $ to do all that now but was wondering about just buying a long glass pack and putting that on myself with a turn down pipe on the end. It would be cheap enough. Just wondering how it would sound and if it would get the results I want. Thanks!

Instead of the glass pack, I'd get an Aero from these guys. MUCH better muffler / set up !!

I have a glass pack that splits into duals, and I love the sound. Just be sure you gut the cat.

I finally installed the glass pack the other day. Cut off my factory muffler / tailpipe. The power is a little better,( also have the old school round chrome air cleaner mod ). The really nice part is my gas mpg went from barely 13 to 15 plus. I really like the sound too. A performance muffler might sound a little better, but this was only $18. I just need to get the duals out the back. Right now its just the glass pack dumping out underneath the back of the cab. Sounds a little funny echoing off the sheet metal underneath.

A glass pack will sound like a loud redneck ride! Just spend a little cash and get a flow.
