How do you know the modern fuel injector cleaners do a much better job? Where is the data to back it up? I've used seafoam before and it is great stuff.

If I remember correctly, Hank has done numerous testings with carbon cleaning.

So lets see the data?

Seafoam raised the MPG in my Ram from 12 to 14. In my Ranger from 18 to 22.

Hes not denying that it works, hes simply saying that the newer product could be doing a better job in an easier fashion. As for the problem here, maybe you just need to let the seafoam finish off, everyone who uses seafoam has clouds of white smoke, and from the sound of it you put to much in and in the incorrect way. Just let it burn off, and maybe reset your pcm to deal with the cleaned system. Your mpg will drop if your running rich, and as your system is being cleaned with seafoam youll run a little rich.

iam not going to say that sea foam is a bad pruduct. however i have used marvel mystrey oil for 20 to 30 years. in the gas 4 oz for 10 gal of gas. it keeps the engine clean. AND it starts very fast. it might clean out your engine.

Starting very fast has nothing to do with how clean the engine is. As long as your starter/electrical system is good, you have an intake, and your fuel pump works, it should start fast.

How well the engine runs after the start, now THAT might have to do with how clean the engine is.
