I am wondering what other vehicles can a grab an engine from to put into my '96 RAM 4x4. I currently have a 318 Magnum with 250,000+ km. I would like a get a 318 or 360 motor to rebuild and install to shorten the turn-around time since I drive my truck everyday.

What years can a get the engine from before I need to worry about swapping computers and harnesses? Can a get a motor from a Dodge van or a Dakota as well?

I want to do this the right way without cutting corners but at the same time I don't have unlimited funding.
