Default tire questions

Hi all. I just bought a used 2001 Ram 2500 QuadCab with LT315/75R16 Dunlop Rovers on the original wheels 16x8;8 - 6.5. These tires are too tall and too loud for my tastes. I see that the OEM tire size is LT245/75R16 with and option of LT265/75R16.

I do mostly highway driving and towing, year-round, with occassional dirt roads for camping, etc. I'm looking for a smooth, quite ride on the highway with good all-round traction.

I am considering Michelan, Goodyear, and Goodrich tires, but am open to other good suggestions.

Also, is there any way for me to tell if a lift kit has been added. I'd like to get the truck back down to stock height.

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience,

Dave

id look into michelans A/T, they are a little more spendy, but they are a long lasting, quiet, fairly aggressive tread for an all around tire.

well a little more info would be needed to tell if it's been lifted by me anyway. like package style. sport, slt, sl, that kind of thing. you could look for a spacer up front, it usually is a like a big round thing sitting on top of the spring. or look at the body mounts and see if there is a hard plastic or metal thing holding up the body. it's usually pretty obvious. or look at the control arms if it's a 4x4. they should be stamped steel bars. if they're not then there is a lift on it.

try someBridgestone duelerAT revo's. Very nice tire and come in many common size. about 190 a pop for 285/75/16's. They have a nice aggressive AT tread but are very quite and highway friendly...not to mention they come with like a 50K or 60K..maybe more warranty

Post some pictures up of the the truck and front suspsension too and someone most likely could tell you if it's been lifted. It would be harder to tell if it's a body lift but someone could probably see that too.
