Default Crank shaft pulley

What type of puller is needed to remove the crank pulley on a 2001 Ram 1500 5.9L 360? I am replacing the crank seal.

you will need a "harmonic balance puller". its also the same puller used for pulling steering wheels. it catches, or bolts, or grabs onto the center section of the balancer. don't use anything that pulls on the outer section or it will ruin the balancer. you can rent them from autozone, or buy fairly cheap. i think i bought mine for $10-20 or so. it wasn't overly expensive. when you use one, and push against the end of the crank, put a washer or something on the end of the crank to protect the threads. i used the air gun to get the bolt off the end of the crank and then again on the puller.

Any 3 jaw puller will work, but they do make special "harmonic balancer pullers"

I would use a nice, long breaker bar to loosen it first. Just in case you have it threaded in crooked. A crank is something that CAN be easy to strip if not dead-straight on the threads.
