Nerf bar reccomendations
easy to put on - just follow the instructions. but if you take yours off w/o replacing them, be aware that you probably have longer than stock body bolts for the nerf bars, and w/o them you may need shorter body bolts. i put mine on w/ hand tools, but used a cheater pipe on the ratchet to get the body bolts tight. i retightened them 3 or 4 times to get them real tight so that when you step up on them there was no give. i hate saggy step bars.
Well I gave it a try today, but no luck. The cab bolts were fine, I didn't have a problem loosening those. But the other set of bolts were sooo rusted, they would not budge. The only way to get them out would be with some cut-off tool which I do not have... What I think I'll do is just pick out some bars at a shop, then just have them uninstall the old ones and put on the new ones...
I still really like those n-fab bars...I just have to find someone here in Alaska who sells them though...

Nice truck. Rusted bars just make it look bad, like I have. I just want to ask where you actually took the bars you installed. I’m planning to have this Dodge Ram Pickup Nerf Bar. Do you think it would look good? Has anybody tried them?

Thanks. I haven't actually gotten around to installing the new nerf-bars yet. Maybe next week I'll pick-up the tools I need to get the old ones off. I plan to just throw them away since one is really bent-up, and I'm going to have to cut them off anyway.
I'll probably go with westin's though...
I know most people here reccomend stainless since chrome or painted will chip off. But what about powder-coated ones? How do those hold-up?

I have the westins and i love em. But i have the painted ones and mine are also starting to chip and rust. ill be looking for new stainless (or maybe, since im cheap, ill just repaint them) ones soon. Mine are bolted to the body mounts and i am pretty sure the bolts are longer. I would recommend, instead of having a shop do it, spray some pb blaster on the bolts every morning and every night for the next week and see if that helps with the bolts, before you pay someone else to do it. Just my 2 cents tho.

I just ran across these in my off-road adventures mag from 4-wheel parts: http://www.n-fab.com/products.nerfsteps.asp anyone have those on their rig? Those seem to be exactly what I'm looking for...
