97' Ram 2500 V10 Questions
my dually was a 97 v10, love the truck miss it every day
The best thing you can do is check your plug wires and make sure they are not crossed, there was a lot of problems with cyl 8 I think getting scored and needing a rebuild because of the plug wire routing. Also the oil pressure sending units suck, I replaced it three times before I said the hell with it and bought an aftermarket gauge and sender, never had a problem again. As far as power, I did the whole intake and exhaust thing and it did make it better but I only saw real nice improvements after I changed out the cam.....sorry it was 6 years ago and I can't remember what cam I put in. Gas mileage....GOOD LUCK!!! When I sold my dually I was at 4 mpg city 6 highway....but I also had 35's a real heavy cap and a heavy right foot.
good luck with the truck.......btw....there is nothing you can do to get a nice rumble from the exhaust...it just won't happen. Because of the firing order the exhaust is nothing more than two 5 cyl motors....it just doesn't get a nice deep rumble like a v8 does.
Back in the day there was a real good v10 forum at fritzdodge.org....don't kow if they are still there or not but it had a lot of great guys that knew their chit.
