Supercharger boost pressure
I recently purchased a 99 QC 4X4 sport 5.9 w/ Powerdyne supercharger. It doesn't have the power I would expect. It runs and idles good but just doesn't haul like I would expect a superchargedV8 to. I took the cat off and cut the inlet and outlet pipes off so I could see if it was plugged. It was not...clean as a whistle. I welded it back together and reinstalled it. I did order a magnaflow cat, to see if a little more flow would help, but that is a couple days in the mail still.
What I really want to know, is, the boost guage never reads more than 3-4 PSI. The guage is T'd into the vacuum port on the side of the intake where Powerdyne tells you to hook the FMU up. Is there something wrong with the supercharger? Or is this normal?

im not surprised whatsoever..
i testdrove a 99 2500 5.9 with a kenne bell S/C and this thing was gutless.. did not have the power that it should have been.. my mildy worked 5.9 kiks that things *** anyday
but RM_Indy might be able to chime in.. he's pretty savy with the boosted magnum motors.

Maybe I'm just expecting too much, but the thing that really throws me is the boost guage never reading the "6 lbs" that is advertised. It even has a smaller than original pulley on the supercharger. I wish I could get ahold of the guy that did all the work to this thing. He put bigger injectors (don't know flow rating) and shorty headers on it. I don't know if there has been anything done to the computer, but I'm assuming not.
It could also be a bad boost gauge. I had that problem in my Grand National. All of a sudden one day I was only able to reach 21 psi when the car was tuned to 26 psi. I took the car to my shop and installed it on the dyno and it read 26 psi. Replaced the gauge, problem solved. Since there is no type of filter in the lines going to the gauge, it's possible that debris can get in there. Atleast that's what the guy at Autometer told me.
