how to? 50mm throttle body

RE: how to? 50mm throttle body
I think the "how to" should go like this:
1) Pick up phone
2) Call Dan Arcand at the Fastman
3) Order best 50mm TB you will ever own, mention Dodge Forum to get discount
4) When TB arrives, install
5) Press throttle and enjoy
6) Repeat step 5
Seriously, unless you have a boring tool that can accuratly cut out the barrels perfectly to 50mm from top to bottom, and you can then match that bore exactly with new brass butterfly blades, I think the best you can do at home is cut off the horns, and maybe smooth the edge of the barrels. But your barrels will still be 50mm coned to 47mm-48mm. That's why the Fastman is such a good deal in my opinion.

This is helpful...that is, if you enjoy doing it yourself! If not, call Dan!

RE: how to? 50mm throttle body
Mark K did this write up of his experience.
http://www.dakota-truck.net/UPGRADES/TB02/index.html
I would leave the 'air horns' on
as they are designed to help turn the air
from coming in horizontal
to going vertical downwards.
The benefit of the air horns can't be measured
on a flow bench unless the rest of the air intake
system is attached to the throttle body.
If you want to learn more about the throttle bodies
first, read over this patent, number 4,905,647:
http://tinyurl.com/27nn8t
you will need Apple Quicktime plug-in to see the drawings and graphs
I wonder if the original inventors
Kizer; Thomas L. (Farmington Hills, MI),
Brueckner; Stephen R. (Livonia, MI)
still work for Chrysler,
or perhaps if they now work somewhere else,
would be willing to tell enthusiasts how to increase flow on that throttle body in the best way.
Notice the date, 1988 and how the patent time of 17 years from date of issue has now expired.
(law back then, now 20 yrs from date of filing)
