Cut the pipe right after your cat and push it to the side, then take a crow bar or something straight and pretty solid and shove it in your cat over and over. Start your car and rev it a few times so that the ehxaust goes through it and throws all the junk inside your cat out. Repeat this as many times as needed till you have no more "honeycomb" inside your cat. Pretty much making it a hollow tube. then re-weld the pipes back together. This is illegal. but does give your car a nice sound

If you cant weld it i've heard of people using a clamp to get the pipes back together, but never tried it. Anyone else tried the clamp way?

If the cat really is the problem then you need to fix it asap. Either get another cat, High Flow cat, or gut the one you have( illegal ). If you leave it for awhile all the junk inside of it will go back into the muffler and clog that too.

well i gutted it today ,and the rattle is gone but,the power is still not there.
i didn't have it welded back together so i know it should have more power
because there is no way for it too be restricted.
and next week sometime i am gonna buy a flowmaster or magnaflow and throw that on there.
i'll weld it then and i know it is illegal but when you got no money cause they hike the gas prices up to 3.60 a gallon
you do what you gotta do to get your vehicle running.

How does it sound now? Much louder or not much difference? It may be your muffler is clogged with the stsuffinside the cat.

it is really loud right now because i have not hooked it back to the muffler so i cant blame the muffler.
i think i have a weak fuel pump it cuts out every now and then. i will have to check the
pressure next time it does this.
pressure should be a constant 49 p.s.i. correct
the engine is a 5.2 liter V8 (318)
