Default Quick Tranny Question

98 Ram 1500 4X4 Sport. 5.2L

170,000 miles.

Tranny started hard shifting into 2nd.
Tranny started skipping 2nd.
Tranny completley quit.

In the shop, tranny rebuilt. Works again.
EXCEPT:

It wants to start out in a higher gear and not shifting all the way back down to first. Shop cannot figure this out.

Anyone have any previos similar experience or know of a solution....

They dont know if its mechanical error in tranny or electrical?

Any help greatly appriciated.

Hello, It's electrical. Sounds like something is wrong with the Governor Pressure Solenoid and Sensor. Ask them if they replaced them or not, they should have.

I had a whole new tranny put in my 96 and it shifted bad for awhile but then straightened out. I read somewhere that the pcm has to reprogram itself to your driving style and it may take a few miles to get right. Sounds stupid but ya neva know!
