Default 94 Ram Timing Question

I just bought a 94 3.9 v6 ram but its started losing power and now smokes. I was told by a mechanic that the timing is off. Problem is no one seems to know what the actual timing is and all the books I can find do not show the timing marks. Can Anyone help me?

I'm not sure but I believe the timing on these trucks are controlled by the computer, at least that's what it says under my hood. It says that it can not be changed.
but Mine is a 98

Default RE: 94 Ram Timing Question

could also be caused by some crap on the Crank Position Sensor, we both have the same truck pretty much with electronics and all
and timing is controlled by our computer, it gets the timing from the CPS, try relacing/checking that first for any metal, grease, etc.
