Default viper rocker ????

I bought the viper rockers part number 5245335 for my 97 5.2L. Tried to install them today but they have way to much slack in them and will rattle does anyone know if there is something else I need to change. I did a search but came up with nothing. Thanks in advance. Matt

How loose are they? Did you check it with a feeler gauge. If it's real close you can try disabling the coil and fueland cranking the motor a bit to see if the lifters will pump up more to compensate. You just don't want the pushrod seat all the way up against the retaining clip. Only other thing to do is get longer pushrods. This is probably the safest bet assuming your lifters are acting right. I believe your stockpushrods are 6.905 (mine were anyway) so just add whatever you get on the feeler gauge to that.

When I say real close- Usual lifter preload is around maybe.060 and you don't want to get much closer than .020

I did not measure them but I would say at least 1/16 of an inch, I did start the truck and tried to get the lifters to pump up and they did a little but they were still real loose. Does the fulcrum need to be changed?I looked at them and they do not appearmuch different but theywill not work is this the right part number??

The Viper rocker arms have the wrong geometry to fit properly on the 5.2/5.9 V8 cylinder heads.

You can bolt the Viper rockers down but they actually will give you less ratio than the standard Magnum rocker arms, which are nominally 1.60 ratio but usually measure more.
