I've basically been wandering forum after forum looking to see if there is much of anything made for the Magnum V6. I have a 2001 SC/SB with an auto tranny and the 3.9L. I'm looking to put a bit more pep into the V6 but everything I've come across basically says to junk the 6 for an 8. I can get around under the hood alright, but I'm not set up or experienced enough to swap out an engine. I'm just looking to put some more fun into the 3.9L and I do like the responsiveness of the 3.9 in city versus the V8s I've been around.

I've seen a programmer online that is compatable and I read somewhere that the throttle body from the 5.2/5.9s will fit the 3.9. I am wondering if there were other parts that I could add on to improve that little V6 (any estimates on price would be great). I'm not looking to do anything drastic, just looking to get the most out of it without buying a brand new engine and investing that level of time and money to swap it out and tune it.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!


p.s. I've already put a Airaid cold air intake on it.

Bernd has tried many many mods on his 3.9V6
including supercharging & head porting

 

Here is what I did to my 98 1500 3.9L swb Ram. cold air intake, headers, MSD 6A w/blaster coil, MSD wires, flowmater muffler, 6 1/2 inch lift with 315 Godyear mtr, Auburn limited slip with 4.10 gears, and royale purple through out. That truck got 21 mpg highway and looked and ran awesome.
