I had a set of Trailmaster SSVs and really liked them. I've never bought a $40 shock though. Well, on my Falcon but that's a little different.

I am **** when it comes to shocks. [:-] Ibought Gabriel shocks, the Monroe standard, Sensatrac, and Reflex. And I tried them all on my truck and even combinations front and rear. Needless to say I did alot of wrenching. The best combo was Sensatrac on the front and standard on the back.Anything other than standard on the back the ride will be harsh.Gas magnum is stiffer than standard, sensatrac is stiffer than gas magnum, and reflex is stiffer than sensatrac.
Take a gas magnum and a reflex, one in each hand, set them on the floor and push on them at the same time and you will feel the stiffness.
In general, more expensive = more stiffer.
Just my experience, results may very and it's all relative.
