Whats the differential cover look like? If it looks like a stop sign, it's a 9.25, which means (based on your pics in DTW) that the pinion bearing went out, which is common on some years.

If it looks like a stop sign SHOVED to one side, it's a Dana. I won't go into whether you have a 60 or a 70, since they look the same externaly, but you will need to purchase a used rear end with the same gears as the front, unless you never want to use 4x4 again. The inbalance will destroy your T-case.Of course you can always put 4:10s in the replacement axle.

the pinion yolk and seal have been repaired but i HAVE to get the bearings replaced, so my questions are...

do i need the diff case spreader tool in order to replace the pinion bearings?
has any one had this done, and what did you pay?

Since its a 2500 its not gonna be a D80, and I REALLY doubt it a D70 on a 2500, so if its a light 3/4 ton which it might be since its a gasser its a Chrysler 9.25, but if its the heavier 3/4 ton its a D60 rear
I dont think they put the 9.25 in ANY 2500, you have a dana 60 i can almost promise you that, i just rebuilt mine like 4 days ago. D70 is usually in the CTD and 80 is the dually.
