well just the diff is bad.. but i found a dana 70 on ebay for $300
i really just want to get this fixed for as cheap as possible. the local transmission place wants $1500 and that is rediculous!

the guy at the transmission shop gave me these numbers. he says it has 4:10 gears and the best he could read off the tag which was rusted shows 6062...0...2
tag # 52069457 a-1
can anyone tell me what axle i have?
he says the "excessice metal contamination causing pitting of side and spider gears and galling of ring and pinion front pinion bearing verybad resulting in damage to internals of rear diff"
they want $1595 for repairs
what do i do?

I had to get my bearings done in mine (dana 60 4.10) If i had to get it rebuilt I would look for a used one if you don't have the cash I think you could use the 60 or 70 without any problems but I'm not certain. Maybe try car-parts.com?
Since its a 2500 its not gonna be a D80, and I REALLY doubt it a D70 on a 2500, so if its a light 3/4 ton which it might be since its a gasser its a Chrysler 9.25, but if its the heavier 3/4 ton its a D60 rear
