Default Ram dies and dunno why!

I have a 99 Ram Sport X-cab, V8 318, 4x4, dual Flowmasters. Lately it's been having an issue. It started about 2 weeks ago when all of a sudden it wouldn't start. Truck would turn over and over, but no start. I noticed that I couldn't hear the fuel pump prime. Let it sit about 10-15 minutes, tried it again, and no problem. Fuel pump primed and it started right up. Fast forward to a few days ago. Driving down the highway, steady speed, running with traffic, and all of a sudden it just loses all power. Didn't stall, just quit pulling. I was getting ready to pull off the road when it just kicked back in and kept going. Then today. First time today was when I was leaving work. Pulled out on the road and it just dies. Completely stalls and comes to a stop in the middle of the dang road. Only took about 1-2 minutes before it fired right back up and I drove towards home. Then, I get to about 100 feet away from my driveway, and it just dies. Would not start back up. No fuel pump noises. Had to have a neighbor pull it home with a chain hooked to his truck. Again no fuel pump noises. Let it sit for about half an hour, went back outside, turned the key. Heard the fuel pump primeand it started right up. I'm stumped! Had my husband check the fuses, and they all seem fine. Not sure if it's the fuel pump going bad or what. Is there a relay somewhere? No check engine lights come on either.Anyone else had issues like this? Sorry so long winded, but I'm frustrated! Any help would be appreciated.

the relays are in the box next to the batteries try swaping the fuel relay out with the headlightsand see what happens. go to autozone and see if it has a code in the computer. and go from there. My guess is a bad relay or a bad pump.

Pretty much, it could be a bad connection but by the time you trace that down you're as well off replacing the thing at hand.

Just for kicks and so you can say it is done and this is not the problem, I'd replace the fuel filter.

The only thing I'd like to add is I have a similar issue with my A/C (cutting off and on), so and a lot of my cars use relays and lo and behold they're all the same, basically. When I went to the auto parts store, I bought TWO new relays (they're not cheap) so now I have two brand new ones I can swap out with an old one at least tells me if this is the problem, that is, beyond rotating, I always have a spare... They don't ever seem to go bad, but there's no way to telling, still can't say why I bought two, guess I wanted to make sure lol but it sure is nice to have a new spare relay sitting around for problem elimination purposes.

It could be you're in need of a pump...

try replacing the crank sensor. It's pretty easy.feel just to the left of the distributor .I'ts bolted to the block and has a rubber bushing around it.I had simular problem. When the cpu sees no engine revolutions it will not start the fuel pump or the ignition.
