Default 2001 died leaving a stop light

I was leaving a stop light today and the truck just died. THe brakes went to mush and the steering wheel was difficult to turn. When I tried to restart it the engine wouldn't turn over. All the lights and dash board stuff seem to work, just doesn't wanna start. It is a 2001 V6 1500 with none of the fancy bells and whistles. Hopefully someone here can help.

Did it eventually start back up or did you have to push it out of the raod and it still doesnt want to start?

did it sputter and then die? Had a van that did sputtered and died. Turned out the fuel pump on it gave up the ghost. For some reason, Chevy uses the gas in the tank to cool the fuel pump. Now I never let gauge get below 1/4 tank to make sure that there is fuel to cool it.

The tank was just above a quarter, a friend says it sounds like a fuel relay? THanks for the input
